Ooni of Ife's buial rites reportedly stalled as Abobaku flees

Several reports claim the burial rites of Oba Sijuwade,the Ooni of Ife has reportedly been stalled after the Abobaku fled the town.The Abobaku is “The one who dies with the king” .He is usually appointed upon a king’s coronation, and has to be buried with the king when he eventually dies. His job is to serve the king even in the world beyond.

The early announcement of the Ooni's death is said to have alerted the Abobaku of the King's death, possibly enabling his to escape.
